Black magic or dark magic as some people call it is a type of magic that draws on malevolent powers. It is sometimes used for dangerous and unpleasant acts, or deliberately to cause harm to someone or something.

Quite often nowadays when you hear this term, it is from people who believe in it or claim to practise it and use the term black magic to describe the harmful magic that they practise, quite often realising that this is considered taboo, as opposed to what most people think of when you talk about spell work, which is white magic. Some people consider that any magic is dark magic, whereas others realise that there are different shades going from white through to grey, ending up at black magic.

It has been known for black magic to be used in order to kill, injure, or cause major destruction, all for personal gain without any consideration of the dreadful consequences to others. Quite often when you hear the term black magic, this is being used to describe some type of ritual that either a solitary person or witchcraft group Carrying out. The truth of the matter is that not all black magic truly is dangerous, or comes with a karmic backlash. Just like everything else there is a balance to be had here.

Moving on to white magic, this seems to be more widely accepted, although it is interesting to see how quickly people switch to black magic when they do not get an instant result using the white version! A lot of people will also state that there is not truly any one colour that relates to spell work, and that it really depends on your intent and the situation that you will use or practise it on; it he is for you to decide whether the spell that you are casting is truly white magic or black magic, this is where the term grey magic comes from as well..
